During Fall 1989, Bro. Asim Razzak Muhammad Ibn, a registered member of the Nation Islam, started attending North Carolina A&T State University (N.C. A&T) where he met other like-minded students that were learning and collaborating around this new movement called Afrocentric Era or Conscious Movement.
Out of several conversations and a few months later, Bro. Asim Ibn, Bro. Scott, Bro Jack, Bro. Kiraru and a few others started an official student organization called “Students Interested in Islam”.
1990 As more interest grows, Bro Asim Razzak Muhammad (Bro. Willie) and Sister Lateefah Muhammad (Sis. Yolanda) hosted Friday Night meetings on N.C. A&T campus on the 2 nd floor of the Memorial Student Union which was open to students and community members.
1990 To add more structure to the student organization called “Students Interested in Islam” it was reorganized and renamed “Nation of Islam Student Association” (NOISA). Bro. Scott Muhammad became the first Student Minister of NOISA. Bro. Dr. Abdul Alim Muhammad, Student Regional Mid-Atlantic Minister, spoke on the topic “Who is God” at N.C. A&T in McNair Hall for 5 hours which sparked more interest in the Nation of Islam. November 9, 1990 The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan invited by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity,also spoke at N.C. A&T State University in Corbett Sport Center to 10,000 students and the surrounding community. After the lecture Mr. Earl Jones, Greensboro City Council Member and “Skip” Alston,
Greensboro County Commissioner, gave the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan the “Key To The City”.
1991 The NOISA made strong connections throughout the next five years with other student
organizations which included the Student Government Association (SGA), Pan Hellenic Groups and The History Club. Some of the consistent members were Bro. Eddie, Bro. Calvin, Bro. Amon, Bro. Jack and Sis.Gretchen.
1991 Bro. Dr. Abdul Alim Muhammad, Student Regional Mid-Atlantic Minister, spoke to students and the community at Reynolds Health Center Cafeteria in Winston Salem, NC. After the meeting, Bro. Abdul Alim Muhammad, asked Bro. Asim Razzak Muhammad (Bro. Willie) who at the time was attending Muhammad Mosque in Winston-Salem, to start a Study Group in Greensboro, since there was a lot of interest from students at N.C. A&T and the surrounding community.
During 1991-1992 Amon Muhammad (Currently Student Minister at Muhammad Mosque #34) instituted the Greensboro Study Group at the infamous “The Know Book Store” owned by Bruce Bridges, which was located right across the street from N.C. A&T. Shortly thereafter the Study Group was relocated to a building on Florida Street.
1992 Greensboro Study Group was officially established with the following Laborers; Brother Asim Razzak (Willie Muhammad), Student Minister; Bro. John F. Muhammad, Student Brother Captain; Sis. Lateefah Muhammad (Yolanda), Student Sister Captain; Bro. Amon Muhammad, Student Secretary.
1993 & 1994 Dr. Khalid Muhammad, National Spokesperson for the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan addressed our Mosque, then he addressed the students at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (PWU) and in 1994 he addressed the students at N.C. A&T State University in the Harrison Auditorium.
In May 1994 Greensboro Study Group requested to be a charted mosques and had more than 40 active adult believers. The Student Secretary received a call from Sis. Ava Muhammad, National Spokesperson to The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan later on that year, stating that our request was approved.
We received the number 92 which was not the next sequential number, but it had more meaning. The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan gave our Student Minister, Bro. Asim Razzak Muhammad an assignment to study its meaning. Then Bro. Asim Razzak Muhammad asked the believers to assist with studying the meaning. Bro Amon, Student Secretary, studied and wrote a piece on the meaning of #92 that was sent to The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.
In 1994 Sis. Gretchen Muhammad became the first Student Vanguard Captain at Muhammad Mosque #92.
October 9, 1995 Members of Muhammad Mosque #92 and the Greensboro community members held an “1,000 Man March” leading up to the Million Man March.
October 16, 1995 Muhammad Mosque #92 worked with other organizations and community leaders and took a total of 8 buses from North Carolina to Washington, DC for the Million Man March.
1995 – Bro. Dr. Ridgely Mu’min, NOI Researcher and Student Minister of Agriculture, the organizer of Kemet Research Institute Science and Technology (KRIST) and affectionately known in the community as the “T-shirt Man” was asked to be the Manager of Muhammad Farms in Georgia.
1996 Sis. Elana Muhammad became the first Student Protocol Director for Muhammad Mosques #92.
1996 Bro Gabriel Muhammad stayed on campus
1996 – 2000 North Carolina A&T hosted several national and local speakers through a various student organizations which included but not limited to: Sis. Dr. Student Minister Ava, National Spokesperson to The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, Bro. Gabriel Muhammad, Sis. Wanetta Lonewolf, Sis Beverly Muhammad, Bro. John F. Muhammad.
1997 Muhammad Mosque #92 moved from Florida Street to East Market Street, Greensboro, NC
1999 Brother John F. Muhammad wrote a book called, “How to Be A Woman’s Best Friend”.
2002 Muhammad Mosque #92 moved to it’s current location Glenwood Ave., Greensboro, NC
September 2005 The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan spoke at New Light Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Cardes H. Brown, Jr. a friend of Farrakhan.
May 2016 Bro. Terence, Student Assistant Minister, received the Community Service Award given by 50th NAACP Freedom 50th Fundraiser.
February 19, 2017 Bro. Harold Muhammad received FOI of the Year from the Mid-Atlantic Region.
January 30, 2021 Bro Terence Muhammad, Student Assistant Minister, received the Keeper of the Flame Award given by International Civil Rights Museum at 61 st Anniversary Gala.
September 2021 Brother Reuben Muhammad appointed as the Student Minister of Muhammad Mosque #92, succeeding Minister Asim Rahim Razzak Muhammad after 30 years of service.
